TRUST THE PROCESS

You have come to the moment you have been waiting for the first steps at becoming adults. You have worked so hard for the last 12 years and now you are here. Please "Trust the UP Process", and it will lead to where you intend to go!

This is not easy -- if it were easy, everyone would do it. But you have the skills to persevere and light up university campuses throughout the country.

Remember: you matter, and these next few months will determine where you land for the next 4-5 years. We love you and we are very proud of the young men and women you are becoming! Wolf Pride!

CSU: English Placement Exam (EPT)

You DO NOT have to take the English Placement Test (EPT) if you:

  • Scored 500 or higher on the Evidence-based Reading & Writing (EBRW) section of the SAT.
  • Scored 22 or higher on the English section of the ACT
  • Scored a 3 or higher on the AP English Language/Literature exam
  • Are considered "Ready for College level English" based on the EAP results on the SBAC.
 
CSU: Mathematics Placement Exam (ELM)
You DO NOT have to take the Math Placement Test (ELM) if you:
 
  • Scored 550 or higher on the Math section of the SAT.
  • Scored 23 or higher on the Math section of the ACT
  • Scored a 3 or higher on the AP Calculus AB/BC or AP Stats Exam
  • Are considered "Ready for College level Math" based on the EAP results on the SBAC.
*Research major/colleges to create your college list.
*Create new email for college related information ONLY
*Register for the SAT Subject Test, or ACT and send ALL scores to colleges.
*Begin application for the UCs and Private colleges
*Work on college essays -- write, review, edit, and repeat
*Create a common app account
*Continue to register for the SAT Subject Test, or ACT and send ALL scores to colleges
*FINISH college essays- write, review, edit, and complete
*Create BRAG SHEET
*Ask for letters of recommendations
*FINISH UC application
*Continue to work on Private College applications for early admissions, early decision, and rolling admission
*Begin and SUBMIT CSU application DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 30th
*Begin and SUBMIT EOP application (for CSU ONLY) -- complete recommendation forms
*Begin FAFSA/DREAM Act application and make sure you register for the SAT, Subject Test, or ACT; send ALL scores to colleges
*Continue to work on Private College applications for early admissions, early decision, and rolling admission
*Begin/ SUBMIT UC & CSU application DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 30th
*SUBMIT Private college application for early admissions/early decision/rolling admission; DEADLINES VARY. so DO YOUR RESEARCH!
*SUBMIT FAFSA/DREAM Act application
*Register for the LAST SAT, Subject Test, or ACT exam in December!
*Check your email regularly for any information from colleges
*Complete CSS Profile (PRIVATE SCHOOL ONLY)
*Apply to scholarships during your Winter Break
*Receive Early Admission and Early Decision letters
*Create university portal accounts; login to your email AND university portal on a regular basis for updates
*SUBMIT FAFSA/DREAM Act application: DEADLINE MARCH 2
*SUBMIT CSS PROFILE: Deadline depends on their private college but most are due in February
*Request official transcript from counselor in case university asks for it
*Register for the Cal State Placement Exams (some students may be exempt from the exams)
*Send ALL SAT OR ACT TEST SCORES!
*APPLY to COMMUNITY COLLEGE
*Create university portal accounts: login to your email AND university portal on a regular basis for updates
*Receive notifications of admission from CSUs, UCs and many private colleges
*SUBMIT FAFSA/DREAM Act application: DEADLINE MARCH 2
*Check your Cal Grant and FAFSA/DREAM ACT status via webgrants4students.org
*Review Financial Aid Award Letters from schools who offer you admissions, and review letter(s) with the college counselor
*Register for the Cal State Placement Exams (some students may be exempt from the exams)
*Review all your admission offers and make a decision where you want to enroll
*Community college bound students must register for placement exams
*Submit your STATEMENT OF INTENT TO REGISTER (SIR) BY MAY 1st! (Some campuses may require a deposit)
*Sign up for Orientation to meet with your college advisors and register for your Fall college classes
*Complete housing application (if applicable); remember, a deposit is required
*Accept/decline financial aid award through your university portal
*Continue to check portal emails regularly for updates.
*Submit FINAL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS to selected campus by July 1st (UCs) or July 15 (other colleges); check with your college for deadline
