Value Schools Foundation Board Chair Grant Cambridge along with Ms. Jasmine Bryant and Ms. Jenelle Sagrero, provided the parents and students with an orientation of the upcoming Back East Scholars Trip. |
Parents gathered with their daughters and sons to hear about the trip from Grant Cambridge. He has offered this program to our students for over ten years. This year's trip focuses on universities in Boston. The students will visit Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Northeastern University, Tufts, and Emerson College. Jasmine Bryant and Jenelle Sagrero, college counselors at Central City Value and University Prep Value, will be guiding our students as they explore some of the most prestigious institutions in the country.
Helping Parents Create 529 College Investment Accounts for Kinder Students
David Doyle, President of the Value Schools Foundation, met with parents to emphasize the importance of financial planning for college. |
Thanks to generous donations from Capital Group professionals our families will meet with financial advisors from Northwestern Mutual to open 529 Education Investment Accounts. This is the second year we have offered the parents of kindergarten students $1,000 to start their college fund. Our aim is to instill in each of our scholars that the idea of going to college starts in kindergarten.
Base Camp Hike: Griffith Park
Grant Cambridge led our students on the third Base Camp Hike of the year through Griffith Park. Throughout the hike, Mr. Cambridge and other adults encourage our students to share their hopes and dreams, and asks them to think about their future. Accompanying the group was Gina Doyle, co-owner of Five Crown Homes and a Career Exploration presenter, who provided inspiration and encouragement to several students throughout the hike.
Celebrating Science at Everest and Downtown Value
Students, educators, and parents united in celebration during the 2024 Science Fair at Everest Value School. Spearheaded by 1st-grade teacher Ms. Taylor Willcox, the science fair provided our students a great opportunity to share what they have learned with visitors and parents.
In the lively atmosphere, students showcased their scientific prowess, teaching peers and parents about various topics. They explained erosion, global warming, and demonstrated volcanic eruptions and composting. Others delighted visitors by making rock candy and building robots, fostering a school-wide excitement for STEM subjects.
This year, the Science Fair received an electrifying boost thanks to the generosity of Glenair owner Peter Kaufman. Engineers from his company orchestrated an engaging, hands-on demonstration of electricity, captivating students and families alike with the wonders of science in action. The event served as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the boundless potential of young minds nurtured in an environment of curiosity and exploration.
