English Language Development (ELD)
The English Language Development (ELD) Program at University Prep Value ensures that English Learner students receive the support needed to acquire English language proficiency and academic success. Currently, about 16% of our students are English Learners and receive support from the ELD team.
The ELD team consists of the ELD coordinator and two ELD aides. The main focus of the program is to help develop students’ English language skills by providing support in all English classes.
Students who are beginning to develop their English language skills also receive support in their primary language in Math and other classes whenever possible. These students are also enrolled in English Enrichment class, which focuses on teaching the English language and skills necessary for success in all classes.

“I feel quite good and content with the program, as it helps me a lot during classes. As an English language learner, some things during class are very difficult for me to understand. Luckily we have Ms. Delgado, Ms. Ortega, and Ms. Monica to help us to translate during classes for a better understanding.
